GET THROUGH THE GATEKEEPER

In my NO BS Newsletter I had answered the questions of how to get past the gatekeeper. On of my dear friends sent me her advice which I wanted to share with all of you….enjoy!

Obviously this is a rather newbie recruiter. I never have problems getting thru…Of course I do have phone attitude and a good voice that most people do not question me on the phone. Also get whom ever is on the phone laughing about something. The more uptight my voice is, the more on alert the keepers seem to be.

Hope this helps just ta bit off the top of the head…
1. List three techniques to break through the Gatekeeper
Call before 8 am and after 5pm. Could also try the lunch hour and Saturday morning.
Call into accounts payable or another department and then asking for the right extension.
Just leave your name and tell them it is personal or old friend…sometimes works.
I have called and left a message about the candidates trade organizations, they have normally called me back. I’ll just say” I understand John is in the ASME. Would you please ask him to call me.

2. How else could you find out when these executives are in?
Call the front desk and just ask if they are in…what their proper e-mail and go from there.
I have also had my call transferred to inside sales….they are paid to talk on the phone.

3. What other information is on the old files that might LEAD you to the correct contact information for these candidates? References, supervisors, schools, old addresses…old neighbors (can be found on net) Trade organizations….alumni references

4. What other creative ways could you reach these prospective candidates?
And yes the phonebook I have also been on reunion,classmates and monsternetworking.com D&B million dollar database if free in our public library Zoominfo has some ok info. Don’t forget about the blogs and the yahoo or aol membership directory.
