How many Recruiters are in your office? How many Recruiters are on your block? How many Recruiters are in your City, Town, Suburb? How many Recruiters are in your State? How many Recruiters are in the entire United States?
The answer to the above questions is COUNTLESS……..
Therefore, how do you compete?
How do you make a name for yourself?
How are you different & unique?
How do you develop and maintain a positive reputation?
Your competition will have both Good Recruiters and “Not-So-Good”
Recruiters. You don’t need to worry about the “Not-So-Good” Recruiters, they won’t be around for very long. Their lack of professionalism and dedication to recruiting will push them out of our WONDERFUL profession! The Good Recruiters are great for making our profession as a whole look good to Corporations/Companies/Firms…..our CLIENTS!
There is one sure fire way to differentiate yourself from your competition.
You NEED to have TESTIMONIALS!
It is one thing to tell your Candidates and your Clients how GREAT you are!
It is a completely different thing if you have your CURRENT CLIENTS tell prospective CLIENTS how GREAT you are!
Furthermore, it is another thing altogether if you have your PLACED CANDIDATES tell your CURRENT CANDIDATES how GREAT you are!
We have implemented an awesome system in our office. It is mandatory to ask each placed Candidate for a letter/testimonial sent to The Manager of our Firm. They were asked if they could please write how they felt they were handled by their Recruiter. They were told that our Manager received these to make sure the Recruiters were doing their job the way they were expected– with the highest level of professionalism!
This was an EXCELLENT way to build up testimonial letters! The best letters were then placed in a photo album and placed in our firm’s front office. They were just laying there for waiting Candidates to read. What a great way to have a Candidate start building trust with their Recruiter BEFORE they even meet them.
Timing is everything with these testimonials. The Recruiter needed to ask for the letter immediately following extending and acceptance of the Candidate’s offer. What a great time to ask for a small favor, after you have just gotten them the position they wanted! They are more than happy to send a letter!
As far as your Client’s are concerned, it is a bit more difficult to get testimonials in writing. It is usually easier for you to ask your favorite Client’s if they mind giving verbal testimonials.
However, this can sometimes be difficult! If you look at it from your Client’s perspective, if they refer you to another prospective Client, then that may result in less attention to THEIR needs!
When you ask a Client for a testimonial you must reassure them that the needs of the prospective Client are different than their needs. You must also remind them of your loyalty to THEM based on the relationship you have built up over time!
Recruiters are only as good as their last placement! Testimonials are a great way to show future Candidates and Clients that you are a dedicated, experienced and well respected professional!
