Exclusivity - Reader Disagrees!

I think it’s important for you to read DIFFERENT points of view……..
Barb, I started my own recruiting firm in 1975 and am still at it. I have enjoyed reading a lot of the info that you put out there for the industry.
I do have to disagree with you when you say that exclusivity does not exist. It doesn’t exist if it is not properly presented and the fee and contract are not agreed upon and signed by both parties. I have known many recruiters over the years to practically exist on two or three exclusive accounts. Also , when the manager gets that call from a competitor with the candidate that is the perfect fit, all he needs to do is refer that recruiter to the person with the exclusive contract and let him or her run the show. Another part of a well put together agreement is that you never have to give a discount. We’re not in the discount business. Find the right, well qualified people for your client and they will pay your fees.
