NO BS NEWSLETTER FEBRUARY 26, 2006

We received a large numbers of emails after my last NO BS Newsletter address Linkedin. One of my readers sent in her comments which echoed many that I received. Any concerns with Linkedin were answered directly by Bill Vick and I would like to thank him for his instant responses!

EMAIL RECEIVED:
One of the fastest ways to increase your production, is to represent the clients your candidates want to work for. That is not always up to the recruiter. Also, keep in touch even if you don’t have an opportunity for someone. Join blogs, user’s groups, LinkedIn. Become an Agent and an Expert not just a Recruiter.Work for a company that has a value statement and not just provides bodies to fill openings.

I use LinkedIn as a way of networking with other recruiters and IT professionals. It is a very good source for finding passive candidate’s that are not actively seeking employment on the job boards. It is also a great marketing tool to find clients. My favorite reason for using this site is for building relationships.

Warm Regards, Helen M.

MY RESPONSE:
It is important that you use various methods to source candidates. It is also very important that you represent the clients who are the “HOT” companies. Every time you interview a candidate you should ask “please list the top five companies you would like to work for.” You will hear certain company names over and over again and those are the companies you should represent.

If you go on the Department of Labor web site, you will see by the year 2010 there will be 10,033,000 more jobs than people. When you realize there WILL be a candidate shortage - your success is dependent on representing the best companies. The definition of “best” is easy…..they are the hottest companies in your area of specialization. You will hear your candidates repeat certain clients over and over again and obviously, those become your marketing targets.

As a trainer to our profession, I feel a responsibility to keep you informed of “all” resources available and Linkedin is one of those resources. My suggestion to all of you is to “demo” everything that comes your way!
You never know what resource can turn out to be one of your est decision! My goal is to have all of you enjoy top production and the financial freedom that accompanies it!
