I hope each and every one of you has taken time to reflect on the “POSITIVE” things you have accomplished this past year. Too often, we look at what we “wanted to accomplish and didn’t” this time of year.
My last few entries and NO BS Newsletter articles have been on “PLANNING” for 2006. If you have not taken the time to write down your goals for next year…do it TODAY. Think big….think out of the box….realize if you write down your goals you have a much greater chance of achieving them, than if these wonderful ambitions stay in your head.
Most recruiters I meet don’t specifically KNOW what they want. This is a very important element in the achievements you will enjoy next year. You must KNOW what you want and you must set a date next to each goal you set. It’s amazing when you write something down and then put a date next to it…your energy starts to flow toward that achievement and it “just happens!”
Years ago I had someone tell me to put my goals on post it notes on my mirror, so I could read them as I got ready for work. The results were amazing! I read the goals every morning as I got ready and every evening befeore I went to bed, because they were stuck to my bathroom mirror. As I achieved them, I placed the notes on the back of my closet door, and replaced them with new goals. It’s also very gratifying to see hundreds of goals you have achieved every morning when you are getting dressed for work, because the accomplished goals are stuck to your closet door!
It doesn’t matter if you write down your goals on post it notes, your planner, your business plan or a legal pad…JUST WRITE THEM DOWN AND DO IT TODAY! I’ve often heard, the way you end your year and start the New Year is a good indicator of your entire year. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you started writing down your goals and dreams and 2006 was the year that you actually focused on them and accomplished more than you ever thought possible.
Get out of AUTO PILOT…which is where most of you spend your lives. You wake up, shower, get dressed, eat breakfast, drive to work, arrive at work…and you haven’t had to think about how to do any of those tasks. You do them without a second thought. “You’re on auto pilot!” Once you arrive at work, flip the switch that is within all of you to be AWARE of your actions. Force yourself “out of your comfort zones” because only then are you truly GROWING. No excuses this year, 2006 is the year you break out of old habits and form new ones that will change your life! 2006 can be your best year - if you decide TODAY to WRITE THAT DOWN as a non-negotiable goal!
I’d like to end this entry with a toast I heard on a Chicago radio station that got my attention…
“Never Lie, Steal, Cheat or Drink.
But..if you must LIE - lie in the arms of someone you love.
If you must STEAL - steal away from bad company.
If you must CHEAT - cheat death.
And if you must DRINK - drink in the moments that take your breath away!”
I wish you, your family and friends a healthy, blessed, happy, prosperous and successful 2006!
My promise to you…..I will continue to provide you with the best training available in the
Recruiting Profession during 2006 - to help you get there!
