It is very important that before the year is over you look at every aspect of your life: finances, goals,career, life purpose, family, spirituality, physical, health and environment. Without much forethought, write down in free form what you want to accomplish in 2006 in these areas. Take each topic and write down as many goals as you can in no particular order. You need to have a minimum of 30 goals written down.
Now select your TOP TEN GOALS - these are your non-negotiable goals. Activities related to these “A” goals are put on your calendar first. These activities are done first, because they represent the highest best use of your time.
Your second TEN GOALS are your “B” Goals. These are important goals but can be revised or tweaked throughout the year.
The bottom TEN GOALS are you “C” Goals. If you accomplish these goals as well, you have hit the ball out of the park!
STEPS:
Write down these goals
After each one - write three ACTION STEPS to make sure they happen
List a completion date
Pick someone you trust and share these goals. Ask this person to hold you accountable.
Before you start this exercise think for a moment about 2005:
What do you want?
Why don’t you have it yet?
What consequences are you paying in your life?
What consequences are your family paying?
If today, was the last day of 2006, who do you have to BE to accomplish the goals you set?
You need to have serene clarity on WHAT YOU WANT in 2006. If you don’t have clarity on what you DO
want, you will be focused on what you don’t want to happen and the parts of you, that will only produce more pain in your life.
You must consciously commit to changes you must make if you will attain the goals you set for 2006. To get to your next level of success you probably need to GIVE UP SOMETHING. Think about this past year and what you said YES to that you probably should have said NO to. Successful people know how to say NO just as easily as they say yes. Determine what things are in the way of you having what you want!
You need to create energy, you need to show up 100% whether you feel like it or not. You will have a choice in 2006 to either react or create and become proactive. Your results will become proof of the decision you make. You need to keep your emotions in tact. If you’re clear on what you want in your life in 2006, your decisions become easy.
Review your successes in your past. What was the state you were in when you enjoyed this success? All you have to do is repeat that behavior. This is the place of power you need to operate from. This is where you reach the level of “unstoppable commitment” and things become easier for you to achieve. Now that you have your thirty goals, write a 120 day plan for January 1 - April 30, 2006 incorporating activities toward you “A” goals first. 90 Days into 2006 you will review your results and again write a 120 day plan for May - August, 2006. Find someone to hold you accountable and you WILL enjoy the best year of your life in 2006.
