I’m in the process of expanding my current sales team and I also need to replace the Manager of my Temp division who is moving to New York. I’ve been blessed with great retention- so it’s not often that I’m hiring for my own office. Notice I’m not saying I need to “fill a desk”, which is a term I hear often from owners/managers. I would never just “fill a desk: I’m going to follow my hiring process. I’m going to check references complete a personality profile and hire individuals who compliment my current team. I think it’s invaluable to have your candidates spend at least 4 hours in your office observing. In addition, it’s important to have them make “COLD CALLS” so they actually have hands-on experience doing what we do in our offices. More importantly, you can observe if they have any production. It wasn’t a coincidence that the recruiters who booked many send-outs had great months; those who had low send out numbers- did not hit their goals.
WANT TO REALLY INCREASE YOUR PRODUCTION in August? When you’re planning your day just keep one thing in mind… WHERE IS MY SEND-OUT TODAY? If you book a send-out, it’s been a great day. It’s also important for us to not use our “own opinions” to get in the way of booking interviews. So often we just KNOW what our clients will or will not hire. Have you ever had one of your candidates get a job that was sitting on your desk? That hurts!
The truth is… we never know who our clients will hire. I’ve been doing this for thirty years and my clients still surprise me with some of their hiring decisions. Wee need to get our candidates in front of decision makers and if the chemistry is there- you have a placement. WHEN IN DOUBT- SEND THEM OUT.
I plan on having a stellar august and want you to do the same. We have TWENTY-THREE working days this month-which works in our favor. Remember to ask yourself every day “WHERE IS MY SEND OUT TODAY”?
